Spain 2025
In June 2025, I had the privilege of joining a University of Wyoming study abroad program to Spain, where we explored the vibrant cities of Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona. We wandered through centuries of history, visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família, the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, Bellver Castle, and Castell de Montjuïc. I was captivated by Gaudí’s vision at Casa Batlló and Park Güell and immersed myself in the quiet brilliance of the Picasso Museum. In Palma, we spent time on the beach and experienced a flamenco performance so powerful it left our entire group speechless. In Barcelona, we stood beneath the Arc de Triomf, marveling at its grandeur. Between these landmarks, I was able to slip away to walk the streets with my camera, photographing anything that felt beautiful or alive. Over ten days, I made around 1,300 images, a visual diary of a place that felt like both an adventure and a gift. Just a decade ago, this trip would have been impossible for me, and I carry immense gratitude that my health and my heart allowed me to be there. Sharing this small selection of photographs feels like offering a glimpse into that wonder. My hope is that these images will inspire you to step beyond what feels familiar, whether that means traveling across the world or simply exploring your own neighborhood, and to discover how much beauty is waiting to be seen.

Boy in the Alley
“30 Days, 30 Artists”
Casper Artists’ Collective
Featured Artists & 1st Place Winner, August 2025
In a narrow Barcelona alley, a lone boy gazes upward at colorful flags strung between towering, timeworn buildings. His small figure, caught between shadows and light, symbolizes both the weight of inherited burdens and the fragile hope of a new generation. The flags and reaching plants evoke resilience, diversity, and the promise of growth amid hardship. This image invites reflection on the quiet battles ahead, against injustice, for belonging, for a better world, and honors the faith and determination it takes to step forward beneath the watchful gaze of history.
On August 1st, I opened social media to discover that a photograph I captured in Spain had been awarded first place in the “30 Days, 30 Artists” juried online exhibition hosted by the Casper Artists’ Collective. I’m honored to have my work recognized in this way, especially among such a talented group of artists.
